Bunchy's Big Score, the 'New Kids on the Block' of New Zealand’s alternative/art rock scene, have exuberantly released their debut single set for early this month, accompanied by a visually rich and vibrant music video directed by exceptional Ōtepoti-based visual artist, Kieran J. Dodd.

Notorious for their raucous shows and abrasive but upbeat sound, Bunchy’s Big Score combines influence from proto-punk pioneers, The Modern Lovers, and The Velvet Underground with melodic more conventional elements exhibited by artists such as
The Cure and The Cranberries. The varied sound of the Ōtepoti three piece has intrigued many and the group continues to impress and build anticipation for their approaching debut album release.
Set for release on 6 September, the band’s chaotic debut single Scrapbook blends elements of harsh noise with melodic pop sensibilities, hypnotizing all listeners with an overwhelming marriage of sounds that would typically be considered disparate. The track’s partnering video is an aesthetically beautiful experience masterfully directed by Kieran J. Dodd. The video tastefully expresses both the aggressive and light-hearted facets of the track. Dodd’s use of saturated colour creates intense contrasts, accentuating the divergence in attitude and sonic atmosphere between the song’s different sections. The video’s drama and vibrancy successfully translates Bunchy’s Big Score’s music to another medium.
