Two of New Zealand's favourite roots reggae acts Sweet & Irie and Sons Of Zion are proud to announce they will be joining forces throughout July and August in the aptly named Joint Forces Tour.
New Zealand's freshest reggae bands will be criss-crossing Aotearoa's north Island playing individual dates as well as combined dates at selected venues
Dawn Raid recording artists Sweet & Irie released their debut album Localize It in July last year and had a string of airplay across urban radio and local music television. The debut album features powerfully distinctive & passionate vocals from lead singer Ed Ru, with lyrics influenced by the Irie legacy of the legendary Bob Marley. Original songs like 'Uncle Bob' & 'Sweet & Irie' are timeless Rastafarian tunes that speak to the foundation of reggae while new songs like 'Mama, Don't Cry'& 'Jenny' catapult the sound into a new dimension ready for sound systems and radio speakers everywhere.
Sons of Zion are a six piece crew based in Auckland who have made a large impact on the local roots scene since they released their self-titled debut EP in early 2008. Their live fusion of reggae, heavy rock, dub and funk has captivated audiences all over the country. There's something for every musical taste within their original set. Last year they released their debut album which features singles 'With You' and 'Waiting Right Here'.
Both bands are excited to blow off the winter frost and bring some sunshine reggae to music lovers across the country. Don't miss catching them in a town near you.
