Beatz Collective are proud to present the 10th Anniversary of Beat Street. This event will be on the Saturday 17th July 2010 held at The Meteor, 1 Victoria Street, Hamilton. Only $5 on the door.

This year we will be presenting Hamilton with some incredible artists, live graffiti art and the 3 on 3 bboy/bgirl (breakdance) competition.

On stage this year will be Bella Kalolo and The Soul Symphony, MC Silva, Koma & Frankton Zoo, VMT with DJ’s Kerb and Spel to keep the night flowing. We are also happy to have back this year Hira and Jordaan that will be hosting the event.

Bella Kalolo is fresh from being on tour as a backing vocalist for The Fat Freddy’s Drop Theatre Tour and Hollie Smith’s album release tour. She was also nominated in this years’ Pacific Music Awards.

MC Silva is an Auckland based MC. Bringing a mix of hip hop and dancehall styles to the stage.

And to support local Hamilton talent we have Koma from 4 Corners with Frankton Zoo and VMT (Venomous Mic Technicians).

This initiative was the brain child of Mike Rarere, who has worked with the Hamilton youth for many years. Beat Street has supported local hip hop and nurtured it throughout this time.

This event has always supported the 4 elements of hip hop in a safe environment for families to enjoy. The bboy/bgirl competition has always drawn interest from around the country and this year it has confirmed entries from Australia. Beat Street has also provided a platform to showcase graffiti art professionals from all around Aotearoa and has enabled us to present some of the best up and coming NZ Hip Hop Artists.

Over the years we have had the likes of Scribe, Nesian Mystik, Ladi6, Opensouls, 4 Corners, P-Money, PNC, David Dallas, Flowz & Raw, The Wanderers and much more to grace the stage. Also well known graff crews Triple S and TMD provided the artwork.

We look forward to celebrating the 10 years of Beat Street this year with a special treat having Bella Kalolo and the Soul Symphony perform a funk medley for the finals of the bboy/bgirl competition.
