Solo artist and multi-instrumentalist grim! is excited to announce the release of their latest single, under you on 25 October 2024. With velvety, rich vocals, and an introspective songwriting style, grim! is a gifted emerging artist intent on making their mark.
The 22 year old based in Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula has spent the last several years writing and recording original music. In 2022 they released the 6 track EP Bones, a collection of downbeat, moody pop songs with electronic elements. This was followed by the standalone single Do You Feel Like A Man Now?, a powerful expression of feminism elicited through dynamic indie rock.
under you marks a shift from previous work, adopting a heavier, rock-infused, anthemic sound. The lyrics delve into the inner turmoil of feeling unable to settle down and commit, despite a deep desire for safety and belonging.
grim! draws inspiration from diverse influences including Nothing But Thieves, Jeff Buckley, and Alexander23. Their eclectic musical interests are evident in their refusal to be confined to a single genre, as they continue to evolve their sound.
grim! will be hosting a special release show at the Monkey House Lounge & Cabaret on Friday 25th October (doors from 8pm), with local support from singer-songwriter Francie Lidgard, and DJ Lowly God. Tickets from Undertheradar.
