Tripod Music & Management are excited to be working with a number of talented New Zealand based reggae bands at the Tikipunga Tavern, Whangarei with the aim of bringing live music to the suburbs.
After a successful trial run from May to July at Wanderers Bar, Mangere Bridge Tavern in Auckland; Tripod Music will now hold the first round of gigs for Tikipunga starting later this month as well as a second round of gigs in Mangere starting in September. The Tikipunga gigs will kick off on Saturday 28th of August and will continue through until mid November. Opening this impressive musical line-up is Sons of Zion, with their infectious reggae, rock, dub & roots fusion style – there is something for everyone in their set! Over the following 12 week period reggae fans will be treated to soulful reggae band Unity Pacific, Pacific Music Award winning band Three Houses Down, the mesmerising live performance and ground-stomping sound of Soljah, and talented Maori singer/songwriter Maisey Rika who has one of Aotearoa's most impressive lead vocal styles will also be warming the stage with her honest and thought invoking messages.
Tripod Music & Management Marketing Director Kate Claydon says: “We are working with venues in the suburbs of New Zealand cities where we know a lot of reggae fans are based; talking to them about what bands their clientele want to see and looking to develop long and lasting relationships with the venues and the bands we’re promoting. “Too often the suburban venues lose out on getting these bands meaning that there are a lot of fans missing out on the live experience of the bands they love. Our aim has been to bring these bands out to the suburbs, where many of the band members are from; re-connecting them with their people and when this happens you can just feel the difference in the crowd. “It makes for some pretty amazing live performances,” Kate says.
The success of these gigs at Tikipunga Tavern will hopefully see more prominent music acts able to be promoted through the bar. This is sure to be a great thing for this music loving Northland community.
