Band Details
SURF CITY (AKL) - Sun-bleached garage guitar nostalgia propelled with enough raw enthusiasm to bring it on the brink of collapse. Surf City's debut Kudos is perhaps the most overdue great local rock n roll album in recent memory.
ISAAC AESILI AKA KARLMARX (CHCH) - Isaac Aesili (Opensouls, Solaa) has worked with Shapeshifter, Tyra Hammond & Ladi6, and following on from the R&B standout Eye See from 2009, we see him debut the deeper, futurebeat sounds of the Karlmarx project, as Onefest bids fond farewell to Bath St (1995 - 2010).
GRAYSON GILMOUR (WGTN) - The man who kick started the second coming of indie heroes Flying Nun, come hell or high water, Grayson Gilmour (ex So So Modern) finally brings his piano-pop songbook to Dunedin. This might get loud.
GHOST (UK/CHCH) - Much noted dubstep beat maker Ghost moved from England to New Zealand's Most English when he relocated to Christchurch two years ago, and his trip to the colonies has already born fruit in the form of his third album Postcards From The Edge - a lush musical adventure freed from the creative constraints of inner city suburbia.
ORCHESTRA OF SPEHERES (WGTN) - If Prince got the Voodoo and started up an Afropop band, it would look and sound like Wellington warriors Orchestra Of Spheres. Don't look directly at the sun, kids!
NIGHTSHADE (DN) - Live debut from Dunedin's best kept secret in liquid drum n bass production duo, Nightshade - the latest project of local stalwart Woosh (Vanadis / SBK), with Sarah Callander, Dell McLeod & MC Beau on live locals, and Mr Aesili jumping in for a jam, too.
THUNDERCUB (DN) - Stadium electropop operatics in the style of Trans Am, made and played by mathy gear geeks and a couple of cases full of pedals and synths.
MR BISCUITS (DN) - 2010 OUSA Battle Of The Bands winners tear Onefest 2010 wide open with a one-two punch of spastic rock n roll and young punk spunk.
WOOSH (DN) – Long time host of Radio One’s Subs & Breaks show, stalwart DnB producer and ex Vanadis luminary.
BOOOF (DN) - Master of the ever-shifting urban sound – expect the freshest tech-soul abstractions.
Join in on Radio One’s Onefest 2010 in Dunedin Sept 17/18. Open to all and completely free for 2010 Radio Onecard holders. More information at http://www.r1.co.nz/.
