Alien Nation is New Zealand's longest running outdoor trance party, proud to announce the 9th year with another long weekend of stomping Doof in the stunning Top of the South Island.
Waitangi Weekend 2011 brings four days and three nights of the freshest trance in a stunning location not far from Nelson. From Friday 4th to Monday 7th February 2011, tickets are $100 plus booking fee (available from: www.AlienNation.co.nz (PayPal); www.cosmiccorner.co.nz or outlets in Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin; Gizmos in Nelson; Flurmo in Motueka and Boots 'n' All in Blenheim) or $120 on the gate.
Celebrating the eternal beat, Alien Nation is an unaffected, organic festival that allows you to see some of New Zealand’s and the world’s top trance producers and DJs in a beautiful and intimate environment. Alien Nation is a superb showcase of Progressive, Psychedelic, Minimal and Tekno. A mind-blowing sensory overload of epic proportions with psychedelic UV decor and a DJ line up to die for.
Organiser Warwick Harrington has always maintained that, “it's not just a disco in the forest. It's an initiation; a gathering of the tribe". Dozens of Alien Nation devotees are running around with the party’s triangular logo tattooed on their body: A tough call considering the specific conditions around receiving the lifetime ticket. A handful of truly devoted have taken it one step further – getting the logo branded into their skin.
If you’re not prepared to show that depth of commitment, a range of printed clothing is available so you can wear the logo on a t-shirt, cap, cup or g-string. Or none at all. http://www.cafepress.com/aliennationrave#top
“The party started very small, in a remote location in a far-flung part of the world, which let it develop its own distinctive style,” says Harrington. “Perhaps it’s the beautiful and isolated location; the friendly, familiar faces. “The budget is never huge so lots of volunteers who share the vision have helped built it to what it is now - a party that reflects the best of New Zealand outdoor trance.”
Having evolved over the years, the 2011 event promises to be epic again: A new location this year, keeping it fresh. To be held in the lush Wangapeka Valley – approximately 71kms west of Nelson. Still Alcohol Free.
