Gig & Concert News - JazzFest programme to shine the spotlight all around Queenstown

22 September 2010 - 0 Comments

Music lovers can get their jazz-hands on a scorching hot copy of the 2010 ASB Queenstown JazzFest programme this week in preparation for Queenstown’s major community springtime event, taking place over Labour Weekend (21 to 25 October).

Fresh from the printers and bursting with essentials, the pocket-sized programme features a stunning lineup of more than 150 local, national and international artists, set to dazzle the audiences at more than 50 different events over five days.

For music-lovers from out of town, the full programme – including details of all ticketed events and free gigs around town and the surrounding region – is available on http://www.asbjazzfest.co.nz/  with online booking making reserving tickets for the more popular events a breeze.

The 32nd annual festival has plenty of free opportunities for the public to get involved, among them daily entertainment at the More FM Jazz Village on Queenstown’s Village Green and three Community Spotlight Stage events, at Queenstown’s Earnslaw Park, Frankton’s Remarkables Park and Arrowtown’s Buckingham Green.

Queenstown JazzFest Trust chairman Luke Baldock said the programme revealed an exciting lineup of acts taking to community stages to help bring music to the masses.

“The successful introduction of the community stages in 2009 added a great new dimension to the festival,” he said. “We had unprecedented levels of community and visitor engagement, and the festival and musicians really enjoyed the huge crowds who turned up to appreciate all our events,” he said.

“This year sees the return of the More FM Jazz Village main stage over Horne Creek in the centre of town, and we take the jazz on tour with travelling spotlight stages, so if people can’t come to us then we’ll just come to them.

“We’ve assembled a fantastic line-up of free entertainment with performance slots scheduled on the More FM Jazz Village at various times of the day.

“Make sure you grab a programme or go online to plan your JazzFest experience properly, as there’s truly something for everyone,” said Mr Baldock.

Programmes are being distributed this week by mail drop throughout the QueenstownLakes region and can be picked up at ASB branches in Queenstown and Remarkables Park.
