Dunedinmusic.com, Monkey Killer Records and Radio One are very proud to announce Operation Rolling Thunder’s Dunedin album release show. The album, titled III, is available on vinyl with download only and will have its release celebrated by a unique show with Operation Rolling Thunder performing at XII Below, Dunedin.
Joining Operation Rolling Thunder on the night will be Conray and Hana Fahy. Conray is the brainchild of master audio engineer Dale Cotton, joined by Aidan Fraser (Retrophonic Funk Machine) on keyboards. Dale’s history with Operation Rolling Thunder is long, and he recorded Operation Rolling Thunder’s album at the Masonic Lodge in Port Chalmers in 2007. He also mixed and mastered the album for its vinyl only release, the mastering occurring in January of 2010.
Hana Fahy is a delightful songstress in her own right, releasing an EP in 2009 which featured Rob Falconer of Operation Rolling Thunder on drums. This show will see Hana perform solo, contrasting her accomplished voice and piano with the fireworks of Operation Rolling Thunder’s intense show.
“Dunedin two-piece sonic rock exponents Operation Rolling Thunder are a musical force to be reckoned with. They create soundscapes that transport you to another time-space continuum…” Vicki Anderson, The Press
“Their mountainous, pounding sonics were aired on a 2005 EP, and the new Dale Cotton-engineered album III will be stupendously good” Gavin Bertram, Real Groove
“…Operation Rolling Thunder is a near-perfect synergy of title and content. Those huge swathes of distorted chords from Adam on guitar, wrapping and swelling around his younger brother Rob’s scalpel/sledgehammer/back to scalpel drumming bursts.” Sam Brookland, Critic
