BRITISH INDIA

SHOWCASE AT THE RISING SUN, K RD, AUCKLAND
SATURDAY 4TH DEC

“Drawing one of the biggest crowds of the day, the boys were there to crank up the sound and rev up the crowd” - Music Universe, Groovin‘ The Moo Festival (Bendigo)

British India emerged from the fertile underbelly of Melbourne's independent music scene to take Australia by storm in July 2007 with their acclaimed debut album 'Guillotine'.  As their songs 'Black & White Radio', 'Tie Up My Hands' and 'Run The Red light' became arm-raising, air-punching anthems at venues and festivals across the country, British India developed a hard-earned reputation for their explosive live shows and relentless touring.  They took out the 2007 AIR Award for Best New Independent Artist.

Exactly one year later in July 2008 the boys released their second album 'Thieves'.  Thieves demonstrated the band's growth, in both popularity and as songwriters when "Thieves' debuted at No 5 in the ARIA Top 10 and featured the foot-stomping singles 'I Said I'm Sorry', 'This Dance is Loaded', and 'God Is Dead (meet the kids)', which earned the boys their first ARIA Award nomination.

Having played over 300 headline shows, British India are one of Australia's hardest working bands, playing several sell-out tours and every major festival Australia has to offer, including Big Day Out, Falls, Pyramid Rock, Meredith Homebake and Splendour In The Grass.

'Avalanche' their 3rd album released in June 2010, scored the band their 2nd Top 10 debut in 18 months and features one of the band's most popular tracks to date 'Vanilla', giving the boys their 3rd entry into the Triple J Hottest 100.  Jam-packed with brilliant pop melodies, high-octane rock & roll, this album takes the garage pop which has chararacterised British India's initial success to new heights.  'Avalanche' demonstrates just how far British India have come as they continue to rise heading into 2011.

Their first New Zealand single '90 Ways To Leave Your Lover has just been added to 95bFM's playlist and the band have been itching to perform in NZ.  So British India will play their debut NZ showcase in Auckland at teh Rising Sun on Saturday 4th December.  Presented by 95bFM, Groove Guide and New World Artists, this gig will encapsulate all of the youthful energy that British India bring to their live perfomances - that's why they are recognised as one of Australia's hottest young live bands.
