Cut Off Your Hands have announced their long-awaited return to the headline arena with two shows this June.
The shows comes in support of the band’s newly released single “You Should Do Better”, which is taken from their sophomore album Hollow – due for release this July through Speak n Spell/Frequency Media Group.
Already announced to play at this year’s Splendour in the Grass Festival in Australia, 2011 is sure to be a big year for the group, who have spent close to two years in self-determined obscurity. Hailed by the NME as 'the next Blur only better', the four-piece took their infectious brand of post-punk/power pop/whatever from Japan to Iceland and everywhere in between, making friends and foes in the USA to Europe and the UK with their debut 2008 debut album ‘You And I’.
On Hollow, the band have dispensed with the angular aggression of their post-punk debut and in place have set about redefining their sound. With a penchant for charming melody and heavy laden baritone guitars, Cut Off Your Hands draw from great antipodean pop purveyors, from The Go-Betweens to The Triffids and The Church, with a touch of Flying Nun thrown in for good measure.
