AN INTIMATE EVENING WITH BRIAN MCKNIGHT

MAI FM are thrilled to announce the arrival of R&B and gospel legend BRIAN MCKNIGHT, who will now grace the stage for his New Zealand fans after Australian shows in Melbourne & Sydney sold out in just hours!  This will be Brian McKnight’s first ever live performance in New Zealand in his nearly 20 year career.

The 16-time Grammy nominated, multi-platinum R&B singer, songwriter and producer will play one very special show at the stunning Civic Theatre in Auckland, with guests PIETER T, ENTOURAGE (NZ idol winner Ben Lummis, Carla Flavell),  and DJ REMINISE.

McKnight was introduced to the world through his 1992 self-titled debut album, and quickly garnered critical acclaim.  His third album, Anytime sold over two million copies in the US, gave McKnight his first Grammy nomination and solidified him as a true icon of the ‘90s R&B landscape.

In 1999 he released what was arguably his most celebrated record, Back at One, going on to sell over three million units in the US alone.  In this era, his singles ‘You Should Be Mine’ (feat. Mase),‘Back at One’ and ‘Anytime’ were huge international hits which propelled him to the top of charts worldwide.  To date his discography of 13 albums, some reaching double & triple platinumstatus, has culminated in worldwide album sales of over 20 million.

Since the turn of the millennium, he has continued to carve out a successful career at the top of the US gospel scene and has collaborated with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Quincy Jones, Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Nelly, Guy Sebastian and Willy Nelson – to name just a few.

Expect a fabulously intimate setting, as McKnight performs a full-length acoustic set, with his signature Grand Piano and guitar stylings.  He will be performing his classic hit singles, such as ‘Anytime’, ‘Back At One’, and the emotional ‘One Last Cry’, as well as selections from his newest album, Evolution Of A Man.
