Local Soul-Funk artist STKS is set to release his debut album Rhythm & Brown on August 1st. The album features 12 tracks of Funk and Soul blended dance music that has seen STKS being touted as one of New Zealand’s most genuinely talented entertainers.
Inspired by the likes of Prince, Cee Lo Green and the Black Eyed Peas, STKS has been described as having a “robust” sound and is as much the performer as he is a musician. In what could almost be dubbed the classic tale for RnB musicians of his generation, he first began performing for his family, Church and school at the age of four after watching Micheal Jackson’s ‘Beat It’ and ‘Thriller’.
STKS is undoubtedly one of the finest talents to emerge from what has become known as a breeding ground for innovative and dynamic acts. Raised in South Auckland, STKS is an artist, musician, composer, dancer & comedian who brings an explosive mix of Neo-Soul, Funk, Gospel, Electro-Acoustic elements to his music, and fuses them with a Contemporary Island sound.
STKS’ debut album Rhythm & Brown is released through M4U/Isaac on August 1st.
