Annie Crummer
North Island Winter Tour
Perennial New Zealand pop artist Annie Crummer will head out on the road for a winter tour throughout the North Island in August.
The tour sees Crummer re-igniting her recording career after working overseas on other musical projects for the last decade.
Crummer achieved nationwide recognition and chart success throughout the 1980s and 1990s with her solo career, and as part of the Netherworld Dancing Toys and When The Cats Away.
From 2000 Annie performed overseas as part of the cast of the touring stage musical Rent, followed by extensive international touring in a lead role with the theatre rock production We Will Rock You, written and directed by Ben Elton and based around the music of Queen.
Since returning to New Zealand Crummer has worked on her father’s album, which was released earlier this year. At the same time she has also been working on writing and demoing new material for her own album due out next year.
Last month Annie was bestowed with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awardat the 2011 Pacific Music Awards for a career, which began with the release of her first single at only 16.
The winter tour, originally scheduled for June was postponed due to Annie suffering a broken ankle. With all bones now mended, she is back on stage with her backing band to perform her familiar tried and true classics, as well as road-testing new songs. Annie will be joined on tour by Ben Ratima of dub-reggae band Soljah, who will be performing his own solo material.
