NZ Music Hall of Fame inductees Dragon will support Swedish pop duo Roxette at Auckland’s Vector Arena on Saturday 11 February 2012 in what promises to be a huge night of hits.
Dragon formed in Auckland in 1972 and went on to release nine NZ albums, sell more than two million records and write some of this country’s most famous Top 40 rock anthems such as April Sun In Cuba, Are You Old Enough and Still In Love With You.
Proving just how much Kiwis are still in love with Dragon, the band, now comprisingoffounding member Todd Hunter on bass, Mark Williams on vocals and guitar, Bruce Reid on guitar and Pete Drummond on (naturally!) drums, will be inducted into the NZ Music Hall of Fame and presented with the New Zealand Herald LegacyAward at this week’s Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards (Thursday November 3 at Vector Arena).
With 33 chart-busting singles, including The Look, It Must Have Been Love, Joyride, Listen to Your Heart, Dangerous, Sleeping In My Car and Dressed For Success, record sales exceeding 75 million, more number one and top 10 hits in America than ABBA, Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle’s Roxette are one of the most successful groups to come out of Sweden.
