Able Touring is excited to announce romantic R&B duo, brothers Cedric "K-Ci" Hailey and Joel "JoJo" Hailey, are coming to New Zealand for their Love Life Tour in December. They will perform 2 shows in Wellington and Auckland with tickets on sale Monday 7th November at 9am.
Whilst here in 2008, JoJo made world-wide news after he fell over on stage during the Sydney show. Prior to this, the brothers were well known for their alcohol and drug problems. This fall inspired the brothers to clean up to save not only their careers but also their lives. Their journey was documented in 2010 in a nine-episode docu-series, Come Clean.
K-Ci & JoJo are now clean and sober and are performing better than ever - hence the aptly named Love Life Tour. The brothers are due to film a second season of Come Cleanin 2012 that will show how they turned their lives around. K-Ci & JoJo chose specifically to return to Australasia to thank their leagues of loyal fans for their ongoing support following the fall.
K-Ci & JoJo are true Kings of R&B. They have a string of smash hits from their five successful albums, an American Music Award for Favorite R&B Band/Duo/Group (1999), three Grammy nominations and a string of collaborations with other artists such as hip hops late great 2Pac. Their tracks also feature in several blockbuster movies. The brothers grew up singing in church choirs and originally toured with their father's gospel group. When they met the DeGrate brothers, Dalvin and DeVante Swing, they formed Jodeci, one of the most successful R&B acts of the early 90’s,withthree platinum albums from 1991 to 1995.
In 1996, K-Ci & JoJo broke away from the group to record "How Could You" for the soundtrack of the Damon Wayans/Adam Sandler comedy smash Bulletproof. They also jointly supplied backing vocals on 2Pac's hit "How Do U Want It”. Their success with these two ventures spurred the brothers on to release their first album together, Love Always, in 1997. The first two singles You Bring Me Up," and "Last Night's Letter" were hits but they struck gold with the third single, "All My Life” (which was dedicated to JoJo’s daughter). "All My Life” went to number one on both the pop and R&B charts and is considered by many as one of the greatest jazz-pop melodies of all time. The album went onto sell four million copies.
In 1999, K-Ci & JoJo recorded "Life", which was written and produced by R. Kelly, for the soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence movie Life.
K-Ci & JoJo released their second album, It's Real, in 1999. It was another smash hit, reaching number two on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and certified platinum. The album contained the crowd favourite, "Tell Me It's Real," which reached number two on both the pop and R&B charts. In 2000, K-Ci & JoJo released their third straight platinum album which featured the near Top Ten pop hit "Crazy”, which was included on the Save the Last Dance soundtrack. The brothers have released two further albums, Emotional in 2002, which contained their personal all-time favourite "How Long”, and then Love in 2008, which was released in Japan only.
K-Ci & JoJo sing songs of love and loss, joy and heartbreak. Their life journeys and talent allow them to genuinely reach their audience.
