Gig & Concert News - Splore's a family friendly festival

Splore's a family friendly festival

21 December 2011 - 0 Comments

The Rumpus Room has been a staple attraction for families at Splore. If you’ve been with your kids before you’ll know what to expect but if you haven’t, you and your family are in for a treat!

The Rumpus room is active throughout the whole weekend, starting from midday on Friday through to Sunday lunch. With a short break for dinner, the zone will reopen again in the evening.

“The Rumpus Room will be similar to the last couple of Splores- with the addition of a hut building activity and a playhouse” says Anne Larnach, co-ordinator of Splore’s family zone.

Hut building will take place within the Rumpus Room zone and will be made from a broad range of materials including cardboard boxes, material and bamboo poles.

“The playhouse, sponsored by Creative Communities, is a group project where we will be making cellophane stained glass windows to cover a big tunnel structure” says Larnach.

Other features within The Rumpus Room include flag, mask and costume making, guided adventures and night time fluorescent playdough sculpting. There will also be a parade at 2pm on Saturday and workshops throughout the weekend.

But wait! There’s more… Throughout the weekend you will encounter performers, storytellers, circus skill workshops, unicycle riding and giant bubble making activities.

The family camping area will also be catered for the early morning with trustworthy fairies entertaining the wee ones while you brush away the cobwebs from the previous night.

For a programme check the Splore website or pop in to the Rumpus Room when you get to Splore.

Rumpus Room hours:

Friday 12pm – 5pm
Saturday 8am - 4pm
Saturday night fluro 8pm to late
Sunday 8am -12pm

Family Camping Fairies:
