Two-time Tui Award finalist Mel Parsons returns to Wellington for an intimate one-off show this summer with her band at Happy Bar. With her second album ‘Red Grey Blue’ released last year to critical acclaim, the nu-folk singer is looking forward to a year of touring and travel, heading to Australia and Canada later in the year.
Parsons, whose first record ‘Over My Shoulder’ was produced in Wellington under the guidance of Mutton Birds’ guitarist David Long, is known for her mellow, husky vocals and lyrics that ‘capture life in searing snapshots’ (Graham Reid/Elsewhere). She will be joined for the Wellington show by her long-time double bassist Aaron Stewart, and drummer Nick George.
