Kimbra has recently shot to fame with her debut gold album ‘Vows’ and multi-platinum success for the single ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ with Gotye., the song hit number one in charts around the world and earned the achievement of ‘Best Song’ at the 2011 ARIA awards. Race-lovers and Kimbra fans alike will come together for one of Auckland's biggest and most glamorous parties on March 3rd for TV3 Derby Day.
“We’re excited to combine one of the biggest RaceDays on the New Zealand racing calendar with one of the biggest pop acts to ever come out of New Zealand. We expect TV3 Derby Day to be a huge celebration of horse racing, glamour and entertainment,” says Ellerslie CEO Chris Weaver.
The TV3 Carnival is set to take place right in the thick of the action on TV3 Derby Day. Located on the grandstand side of the course and stretching right down the racetrack’s ‘home straight’, the performance from Kimbra will be supported with all-day guest DJs & music, stars from TV shows making guest appearances, games, prizes and even the chance for partygoers to get themselves on TV with a live casting call taking place throughout the day.
Partygoers are welcome to bring along their own picnic lunches, non-alcoholic beverages, gazebos, umbrellas (and anything else they can carry!) to the TV3 Carnival and Ellerslie will also be coming to the party with a range of bars and food stalls as well as free usage of umbrellas and marquees offering shade and shelter throughout the day, so you will have a great time no matter the weather!
TV3 Derby Day is also a must on the fashion calendar with New Zealand's most fashionable racegoers competing in Nissan Prix de Fashion tosee who scoops the winner-takes-all prize that includes, a brand new Nissan Juke vehicle!
Horse racing fans will want to place their bets early for New Zealand's premier race - the Group I $750,000 New Zealand Derby. The big race will be supported by the Group III Darley Plate and another eight races.
TV3 Derby Day will also serve up more than just racing, fashion and entertainment for its patrons. The George FM chill-out zone, Stella Artois Studio, Sensodyne Gelato Garden and Elizabeth Arden & Lindauer’s take on the popular Powder Room (known as the Lindauer Cabana Hut) will provide amazing experiences for guests oncourse, free-of-charge.
