It has been fifteen years since Mark Carswell opened the first tiny Cosmic store (only 5m x 5m) on the corner of High and Cashel St in Christchurch. Since then Cosmic has grown exponentially to 8 stores operating in each of the main cities, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
 
The Piéce de résistance was opened last year in the heart of Wellington at 97 Cuba St. The great Cosmic mothership weighs in at 440sqm and proudly boasts it's own cafe, The Amsterdam Coffee Shop, and it's own stage and soundsystem which reflects Cosmic's ongoing love and support of NZ Music.
 
Since the new Cosmic on Cuba store opened on July 20th 2011, many NZ bands and Djs have utilised this performance space as an extra means of promoting a tour or new album and every Friday and Saturday night you can already find some of Wellington's top and new emerging DJ talent spinning in The Amsterdam Coffee Shop during the wee hours.
 
To celebrate their fifteenth birthday and NZ Music Month this month however, Cosmic has gone into overdrive featuring one live performance in store each week and a veritable mini music festival in honour of their 15th Birthday on the 26th of May with 25 Djs playing throughout the day and night at the main Cosmic store and up the road at Good Luck Bar.

The party kicks off at 1pm in store with Djs Ras Twig, Range & MC Antsman, Feedback, Habit, Double Negative, The Stereotype Crew and a live performance from electro-cabaret act, Porcelain Toy at 3:00pm.

From 5pm the celebrations spread down to Good Luck where 15 Djs will create one of Wellington's most eclectic nights of music with a myriad of incredible drink specials courtesy of Good Luck including 2 for 1 Cocktails from 5pm – 8pm.
 
With a little bit of everything from Dancehall, Hip Hop, Soul to House, Techno & Disco, the party will embrace all that is crazy, funky, fun and cosmic from 5pm until 5am with a cover charge of just $5! The first 100 in store purchases will also take away a free copy of the new cosmic CD ~ 'Fifteen Cosmic Years' which features fifteen hot NZ tracks including 4 new releases.
