A Winter Tour For The Unfaithful Ways

28 May 2012 - 0 Comments

Christchurch outfit, The Unfaithful Ways tour their critically acclaimed debut album “Free Rein” this winter.

“Free Rein” has received high praise over the last year. The band were nominated for the Vodafone Critic’s Choice Award in 2011, reportedly missing out by very slim margin. This year sees them nominated for Best Country Music Album of 2012. Front man Marlon Williams has also been nominated for the APRA Best Country Song award with the track “Ghost Of This Town” which he performs with The Harbour Union.

Tour dates are as follows:

Friday June 1st  - The National, Dunedin (with Hana Fahy and Shakes and Swell)

Sunday June 3rd - Hilltop Tavern, Christchurch to Akaroa Road

Friday June 8th - Lyttelton Festival of Lights

Saturday June 16th - Bodega, Wellington (with John the Baptist and Eb and Sparrow)

KUDOS FOR THE UNFAITHFUL WAYS

“There have been a few Kiwi alt-country/folk ensembles in recent years; many of them seem to lack authenticity…But The Unfaithful Ways have found a way in; there's something utterly believable about this music; that it should come from New Zealand and channel a version of Americana.” Simon Sweetman, Blog On The Tracks Best Kiwi Albums of 2011

“Their music often sounds like it was written by men much older than their fresh faced years. They're old souls in youthful disguise, which gives their songs an appeal that is hard to define.” Lydia Jenkin, NZ Herald

4/5 Shane Gilchrist, Otago Daily Times

“If, like me, you know that some of the best, most heartbreaking and wonderful songs come from country music (and it’s really nothing to do with line-dancing) then The Unfaithful Ways will make an excellent addition to you record collection with this debut album.” 4/5 Andrew Tidball, Cheese On Toast

“Wonderfully pictorial, the extravagant instrumentation and arrangements utilized across the record conjure all the classic motifs of Americana (camp fires, horses galloping across fields, small country towns, etc) as filtered through a decidedly New Zealand "Southern Man" lens. “ 8/10 Martyn Pepperell, Under The Radar
