Gig & Concert News - The Home Brew Speakeasy Tour Hits The Road In July

The Home Brew Speakeasy Tour Hits The Road In July

14 June 2012 - 1 Comment

Off the back of their #1 chart debut, successful disorderly 48-hour album release party, and controversial Pop-Up Store on Ponsonby Road in Auckland, Home Brew have decided to take the carnage on the road, announcing a six-date nationwide tour throughout July.

Starting in Auckland on July 19, Home Brew along with their seven-piece band, head down the country performing in at Hamilton July 20, Wellington July 21, Queenstown July 26, Dunedin July 27, before finishing in Christchurch July 28.

"Aucklanders are finally sick of us, so we're on the road to see the rest of our fan base around the country and run-a-muck with them," says Home Brew’s Haz Beats.

Home Brew Crew, with support from DJ Substance, will be performing tracks from their long awaited self-titled album, which made its Top 40 chart debut in May to much acclaim. Here’s what the critics are saying:

“It is one of the best, most genuine hip-hop releases I’ve heard in recent years.” – Luke Appleby, Dominion Post* * * * *

“The 21 tracks walk a delicate line surrounded by joy, humour, and misery; a beautifully eerie picture of optimism and condemnation which is undoubtedly a local hip hop classic.” – Lydia Jenkin, NZ Herald* * * * 1Ž2

“Three years in the making…it strikes me as the most sophisticated and insightful hip-hop album made in this country todate.” – Grant Smithies, Sunday Star Times

Stay tuned for Australian tour date details coming soon!

Team Dynamite (part of the extended YGB Crew) features lead MC’s Lucky Lance and Tony Tz, producer Haz Beats (Home Brew), and DJ Substance. Their debut album ‘The Demo Tape’ was critically acclaimed when released for free download in 2010, and Team Dynamite will be a welcome addition to the tour.

Home Brew’s album remains in the Top 40 album chart 12 weeks since it’s May release, after debuting at #1 first week in. This week, they’ve released a new video for controversial album track ‘Good God’ featuring Tyna Keelan and Hollie Smith, which can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKsjGTeMAgw.
