Gisborne’s much loved wine and food festival is set to have an exciting revamp for 2012 with the announcement of FEAST GISBORNE.
The colourful festival, celebrating the best of the region’s food and wine, will be held on October 21st at Waiohika Estate.
FEAST GISBORNE marks an exciting new chapter in the history of this event, it’s about much more than just a name change, it’s the evolution of the event into a world class festival. The event will be held in the same location as New Zealand’s most celebrated music festival, Rhythm and Vines set amongst a backdrop of vineyards and stunning rural landscape.
“This will be unlike any other food and wine festival in New Zealand, we want to showcase our region, our produce and our love for music in a new and innovative way,” says Alex Turnbull, Festival Director. Over the coming years FEAST GISBORNE hopes to establish itself as a major player on the tourism calendar, attracting visitors from around the country and overseas to the region and boosting Gisborne’s profile as a food and wine destination.
As well as the best in eating and drinking FEAST goers will enjoy some truly world class entertainment. Headlining this year are New Zealand’s own legendary Dragon and Hello Sailor performing all their hits as part of a 40th Anniversary tour. Wellington’s The Thomas Oliver Band will be in support.
Accomodation options have also been expanded with a limited number of two day campervan tickets available for out of towners. Tickets for the event will go on sale JULY 12TH for $75 through http://www.feastgisborne.co.nz/ With the Gisborne iSite and The Wine centre starting ticket sales from July 14th.
