WHAT

On the 3rd of November this year, the Volunteer Army Foundation is hosting an awesome music event in Christchurch to help recreate Christchurch and support volunteering.

The Concert isn’t just about music, it’s designed to encourage more people to volunteer in their communities to bring back that sense of community we all felt following the quakes. We aim to get 10,000 people to do 40,000 hours of volunteering. That’s the equivalent of one person working full time for 20 years!

The Concert will be held at the New AMI Stadium and the ONLY way to get a ticket is by volunteering your time, or registering the volunteer work you already do!

In the aftermath of the Canterbury earthquakes, The Student Volunteer Army, the brainchild of Sam Johnson and the SVA team, awoke the community to the potential that young people have and the enormous positive impact that this can have on our community.

This inspired the six founders of the SVA to start a new organisation, the Volunteer Army Foundation, which seeks to embed volunteering into the whole of New Zealand and includes, but expands beyond, the student reach. The Concert is the VAF’s first project, targeted at 15-30 year olds, actioning a desire to recreate and utilise the potential of people to improve their community. By providing people with an opportunity to go to one of the best events in Christchurch this year, it serves as an incentive for them to get out and start rebuilding  their communities.

The  event will initiate change in thousands of people’ lives and be integral in the rebuild of Christchurch, while engaging youth in their community along the way.

To attend, you simply need to register the volunteering work you have already completed, or signup to one of the hundreds of volunteer projects on http://www.theconcert.co.nz/. It’s that easy!

No one is able to buy their way into The Concert.
