Alongside Action Bronson, Harry Fraud, Meyhem Lauren and A$AP Rocky, Harlem's Smoke DZA represents a crucial part of the new wave of New York Hip-Hop. A voice you might have heard through his breakout YouTube hits '4 Loko' featuring A$AP Rocky, 'Continental Kush Breakfast' and ‘Marley & Me' (Remix).
This November, you'll have the opportunity to watch Smoke DZA perform live, as local promotions teams Fine Form and MAZDEF Productions team up to bring him to New Zealand for two highly exclusive shows, Auckland on Thursday the 15th at Hard Luck Cafe and Wellington on Friday the 16th at Bodega.
Inspired by the likes of Jay-Z, Biggie, Mase, Big L and The Diplomats, Smoke DZA started rapping in his teens. After slow grinding on the New York battle rap circuit and performing as part of Smoke& Numbers, he's found international recognition over the last few years through a steady stream of mixtapes and a serial approach to song feature appearances.
In the process his humorous green thumbed bars, vivid storytelling and relaxed flow has seen him stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, A$AP Rocky, BIG K.R.I.T., Devin The Dude, Domo Genesis (OFWGKTA) and Schoolboy Q.
Signed to High Times Records/Cinematic Music Group and a member of Curren$y's Jet Life Crew, with the recent release of his new Rugby Thompson album, Smoke DZA has critical acclaim both inside and outside the hip-hop world. Produced entirely by legendary new generation New York producer Harry Fraud, Rugby Thompson is a statement of intent from one of the best new rap voices you'll hear this year.
Smoke DZA is genuine talent, one currently making a fast rise. Catch him in intimate concert on his debut New Zealand tour. Bragging rights are not optional here, they're guaranteed.
