‘With Strings Attached’ is a remarkable blend of electronica and orchestra, where two of New Zealand’s most successful contemporary musical acts OpShop and Tiki Taane will join forces with an orchestral string section to create all-new breath-taking performances.
For one night only on Saturday 3 November, Wellington’s Old St Paul’s will be transformed for the collaborated performances and filmed for television. Limited tickets are also available for the public to attend.
The filming will also look behind the scenes and chronicle the highs, lows, triumphs and tensions of each collaboration, inter-cut with the actual concert - shot on a 360 degree setwhich will emphasize the intimacy of the collaborations and offer viewers access to an unseen world.
Both OpShop and Tiki Taane have been busy re-working some of their best-known songs, with the 18-piece string section of the Orchestra writing whole new passages for the performances.
On the surface, it doesn’t seem like an Orchestra would add much to the contemporary artists’ acts. But its presence makes the music tense, dramatic, and breath taking. The effect is one of timelessness. The result is a new perspective for two oncevery different audiences – classical and pop – and something not to be missed!
