If good things come in threes, Bernard Fanning just hit the trifecta; first confirming a new album, releasing new single Battleships and this morning, announcing to NZ fans he will be performing in both Auckland and Wellington this August.
The Departures Tour provides fans the first opportunity to hear his forthcoming album Departures live. The album will be released the same day tickets go on sale for his show – Friday June 7.
The first single Battleships has already climbed into the Top 20 on the New Zealand Rock radio charts, following in footsteps of Bernard’s former solo smash ‘Wish You Well’, and a slew of former Powderfinger rock hits.
Speaking of the tour, Bernard says: “I can't wait to get to NZ with a new batch of tunes and a new band. This new album is much more energetic so it's going to make for a really dynamic show when paired with the stuff from Tea & Sympathy. I hope to see you somewhere out there.”
The Departures Tour marks his highly anticipated return to stage since Powderfinger’s Farewell Tour of 2010 - a run that saw sales in excess of 300,000 tickets and repeat sell outs across Australia and NZ.
