Gig & Concert News - Feast Gisborne

Feast Gisborne

05 July 2013 - 0 Comments

Feast, Gisborne’s premium wine and food event, is back and promises a wine and food experience second-to-none.

Now in its 16th year, the event has evolved into one of New Zealand’s foremost wine and food festivals, regularly selling out its 5000 tickets. Organisers expect this year to be no different.

Feast will be held on Sunday October 27 (Labour Weekend) amongst the vines and stunning vistas of Waiohika Estate. Feast general manager and director Alex Turnbull says festival-goers can expect an impressive local wineand food offering, with up to 30 of Gisborne’s best vineyards and eateries showcasing exceptional local fare.

“Gisborne’s outstanding wine and produce lies at the heart of the festival. Locals already know how great their produce is and new-comers to the festival will not be disappointed.

“Our focus has been on ensuring festival-goers have a fantastic day as we look to build on the success and fun of last year’s event. We’re particularly pleased with the lineup of kiwi acts we’ve put together that we’re sure will excite and engage all ages,” he said.

Gisborne Wine Growers’ president Doug Bell is equally enthusiastic and says wineries and exhibiters are already engaged with organisers to ensure an excellent experience. Naturally, it is the quality of the wines he is most excited about.

“It’s now well known that the 2013 vintage was one for the books. Those wines are in the throes of being released and will be available at Feast this year. The festival presents a great opportunity to try some outstanding wines and great food.

“We’re looking forward to another successful, fully-rounded festival with outstanding performances on the stage,” he said.

Quintessential kiwi rock band The Exponents will headline Feast. Led by enigmatic front man Jordan Luck, The Exponents have been loved by successive generations of New Zealanders producing such anthems as Why Does Love Do This to Me, Who Loves Who the Most and Victoria

Supporting this stalwart of the New Zealand music scene are a number of popular live acts. Groove-ridden AhoriBuzz and indie rock band The Kaleidoscopes are included in the line-up. Additional acts are still to be announced.
