The Radio Network’s (TRN) all-in-one digital radio service iHeartRadio is living up to its name of leading the way in music by presenting New Zealand’s latest singing sensation Lorde in a free one-off concert in Auckland. CEO of TRN, Jane Hastings, says the gig is specifically to celebrate the full launch of iHeartRadio in New Zealand.
“iHeartRadio will be available for free on mobile and web to all New Zealanders in September so what better way to celebrate the full launch than by providing an opportunity for several thousand of those people that have registered for iHeartRadio to see Lorde live and for free.”
Lorde has been somewhat of a mystery, to date she has only performed intimate shows in New Zealand, of which all three sold out in minutes. The iHeartRadio concert will be the only chance New Zealanders will have to see Lorde in concert at home this year.
“When iHeartRadio approached me about doing a free show at Vector, I flipped out,” says Lorde. “Playing for New Zealand audiences is a huge treat for me, and this show in particular is going to be really cool.”
“Her popularity in New Zealand and overseas is incredible” says Hastings. “She is highly sought after and a name that everyone is talking about. iHeartRadio is all about providing music fans with the best access to music artists, live broadcast and custom radio stations. Lorde is the perfect artist to celebrate the full launch of iHeartRadio.”
The free iHeartRadio Lorde concert will be on Saturday 7 September at 8pm at Vector Arena. Registered users of iHeartRadio will receive an exclusive invitation for two free tickets on a first-in first-served arrangement.
Functions include:
· Live streaming of radio stations from New Zealand (Clear Channel’s 850 live U.S. radio stations and Australia stations will also be available in September)
· The ability to build Custom Radio stations based on users favourite songs or artists
· Nearly 1,000 ‘Perfect For’ stations featuring music perfect for the user’s mood or activity
· iHeartRadio Talk, a newly launched feature offering on-demand listener-created talk content side by side with popular talk, business, news, celebrity, comedy, sports and entertainment episodes from established personalities and shows.
· iHeartRadio reached 20 million registered users faster than any digital service in internet history.
· It continues to be the No. 1 all-in-one digital service in the U.S. with nearly 210 million downloads of the iHeartRadio mobile app and more than 60 million monthly unique users across its network.
· With a library of more than 16 million songs and 400,000 artists, iHeartRadio’s Custom Station feature offers listeners more music than any other service available.
