Gig & Concert News - Solid Announces the amazing Jake Bugg

Solid Announces the amazing Jake Bugg

05 December 2013 - 0 Comments

AUCKLAND TOWN HALL
THURSDAY APRIL 10th

Solid Entertainment are thrilled to welcome JAKE BUGG back for an all ages show at Auckland Town Hall following his hot ticket sold-out Powerstation debut in July.

Q Magazine have just voted Jake Bugg the Best New Act of 2013. He is without doubt one of the brightest, most interesting and and gifted songwriters to emerge in recent years.

In the space of just over twelve months JAKE BUGG has gone from being the youngest solo male artist to release a debut #1 selling album in the UK to become a household name in many countries around the world.

Now nineteen years old Bugg has just released his second album Shangri La (produced by the legendary Rick Rubin) that cements his reputation as one of the most frighteningly talented, authentic real deals of a singer songwriter. His tunes already sound timeless, whilst being absolutely of the moment.

“a prodigious rate of development for such a tyro talent, all the more remarkable for not being reliant on significant musical progression, so much as raw song-writing ability” 5 STAR album review The Independent

“Dude has balls as big as Rickenbackers.”Rolling Stone album review

This year has seen the working class kid from a housing estate in Clifton, Nottingham scorching his troubadour’s path around the globe with the same story everywhere – sold-out signs going up and legions of new fans banging down the doors.

Bugg’s debut NZ show at Auckland’s Powerstation sold out several weeks in advance as word spread and his debut album hit the #1 spot in the local iTunes album chart and enjoyed a sustained run in the NZ Top 20.

To say 2013 has been the year Jake earned his rock ‘n’ roll stripes would be something of an understatement. He was chosen by The Rolling Stones as their Hyde Park support act in July, pulled one of the biggest crowds of the weekend at Glastonbury Festival andplayed stand out performances at Splendour In The Grass, T In The Park, Reading and Leeds festivals and Summer Sonic in Japan.

Past touring partners include Noel Gallagher, The Stone Roses and Snow Patrol. Jake Bugg is currently playing across Europe, through the USA, the UK and onto Lollapalooza South America before arriving match fit for a night to remember at the Town Hall in Auckland.

Jake Bugg has travelled an awful long way very quickly through the purest of reasons – the natural emotional connection his music and words are making. His poignant and witty turn of lyrical lyrical phrase and evocative images are embraced as stories for the times and reflections of a shared everyman experience. All wrapped up in tunes that seem to flow as effortlessly as the connection they create.

The universal critical acclaim and word of mouth is undeniable. Releasing two albums in the space of just over twelve months speaks volumes for the artistic intent. We get the feeling he’s only just getting started……

Jake Bugg and his band play Auckland Town Hall on Thursday April 10th. An all ages show. Magic.
