The next few months will be clocking up the air miles for kiwi songstress Aly Cook, as she performs throughout Australia and New Zealand in support of the release of the next single Lovers Do, from her band The Sou’Wester’s album Going West, which spent 6 weeks in the NZ music album charts.
Then comes the much anticipated release of her second album Horseshoe Rodeo Hotel. Due for release in September & produced by hit Kiwi maker Alan Jansson. The album has some surprises and eclectic styling with co-writes with Jansson as well as other writers, including a co-write with prolific Australian writer Allan Caswell. Many of the songs influenced by Cook’s travels across Australia. From The Kimberley to Sydney Trains along with deeply inspired songs, including a WW2 story which is currently in development as a screen play.
Aly heads to play in the Kimberley region again at the Kununurra Agricultural Show 12th and 13th of July. Then heading back to Sydney for Songs From Down Under on Thursday 24th of July at Lizottes, Sydney. A show celebrating great kiwi and Aussie Hits with Aly Cook (NZ Female Country Artist of the Year 2012/APRA NZ Country song of the Year Nominee), Ben Ransom a Sydney based singer songwriter with Country Music Chart success & Aussie/Kiwi Duo Neillyrich who’s debut EP is currently on the Hot 100 chart, along with the Aly Cook Band from Canberra, including Phil Measham, Carly Vesela, Alan Hilvert-Bruce and Lynette Salazar. Our Very Special Guest is iconic Australian recording artist and record producer Rob E.G. / Robie Porter.
Aly Says, "Songs from Down Under is where the Songs are the stars of the show, performed by independent musicians and very special guest Rob E.G. Rob was Australia’s #1 Hit Recording Artist in the mid-1960’s with 55 Days At Peking, Si Senor, Jezebel, etc., and later became Australia’s All-time #1 Hit record producer, with such iconic hits as Daddy Cool’s Eagle Rock and Air Supply’s All Out Of Love, together with #1’s for Marcia Hines, Rick Springfield, Tommy Emmanuel, just to name a few of his 29 number one hit singles and albums. It will be a complete honour to take to the stage with this legend of Australian music.”
This is will be fabulous celebration of Kiwi and Australian Music by Australia and Kiwi performers. Performing some of their own material and the songs of those from downunder, who have inspired them as writers.
