They’re
all legends in their own right; but sharing the same stage for just one night
only, they’re one of the most powerful forces in New Zealand music.
Hear Them Roar brings together Sharon
O’Neill, Shona
Laing, Margaret
Urlich, Annie
Crummer and Debbie
Harwood on Saturday,
February 27, as part of the Auckland Zoo series.
Needing no introduction, all five artists dominated the airwaves throughout the
70s, 80s and early 90s and inspired new generations of female Kiwi
singer-songwriters.
Individually they boast impressive back catalogues with some of the country’s
most iconic tunes, from O’Neill’sMaxine, to Laing’s (Glad I’m) Not A Kennedy, Urlich’s Escaping and Crummer’s See What Love Can Do.
And who could forget Urlich, Crummer and Harwood’s
chart-topping When The
Cats Away success with Melting
Pot, Crummer’s powerful
vocals on the Netherworld
Dancing Toys hit For
Today and Urlich’s
smash song with Peking
Man, Room
That Echoes.
Not only does Hear Them
Roar promise to be a night of celebration and nostalgia, it’s
also guaranteed to be filled with laughs, with well-known Kiwi comedian Michele A’Court hosting the event.
