Jackie Bristow announces the release of Whistle Blowin' - the second single from her forthcoming album Shot of Gold, out February 5th.
At once heartfelt and sophisticated, Jackie's
songs combine subtle but beautiful melodies and hooks that hypnotise the
listener, demanding complete surrender then sticking around like the backbone
of a real friend.
Whistle
Blowin' is no exception - an elegantly restrained ballad
which begins with a melancholy plucked banjo and weaves in washes of acoustic
and pedal steel, spotlighting the clarity of Bristow's plaintive voice as she
sets the scene:
Summers gone and
Winter's coming on / I can feel the cold front blowin' / and I don't
see the fog lifting
Listen to Whistle
Blowin' here.
The accompanying video was shot and directed by Mark Tierney in and around Los
Angeles and features Bristow roaming desert backdrops, train stations and
coastal surrounds - the sun beaming down continuously, mirroring the
sombre warmth of the song.
Jackie returns to New Zealand for a 14-date
solo tour next month to celebrate the release of Shot of Gold which
will be released via Marbecks on CD and Vinyl and available
digitally via iTunes and all good digital service providers.
