Gig & Concert News - Pentatonix bringing their world tour to New Zealand this September

Pentatonix bringing their world tour to New Zealand this September

10 June 2016 - 0 Comments

Frontier Touring are delighted to welcome multi-platinum selling vocal sensations Pentatonix to New Zealand this September for their most extensive tour of the country to date. The World Tour will also see the a cappella quintet perform their first ever New Zealand show at Auckland Town Hall.

These will be the world wide phenomenon’s first Australian shows since their sold-out debut 2014 tour. Bigger than ever, Pentatonix have since sold more than 3.2 million albums in the United States alone, won two Grammy Awards, sold out venues across the globe and appeared in the feature film Pitch Perfect 2.

They’re currently in the midst of a World Tour that will see them spend 2016 touring through Europe, the UK, Japan, North America and South East Asia in addition to Australia and New Zealand. Get a taste of what to expect from the tour here.

‘Pentatonix is a must-see performance’ – Phoenix New Times

‘The show had everything it could have needed… They’re a group with growing credentials and an exciting future who still looked out in disbelief at their sold out crowd.’ – Redbrick

‘Pentatonix is an absolute phenomenon.’ – The Mercury News

Since bursting onto the scene in 2011, Pentatonix have taken instrument-free music to a whole new level, igniting a massive global following in the process. Their YouTube channel numbers alone are stunning, having amassed more than 1.57 billion views and 10.7 million subscribers.

Based out of Arlington Texas, harmonic trio Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi and Kirstin Maldonado first bonded as choir-mates in high school, later recruiting bass Avi Kaplan and beatboxer Kevin Olusola to form Pentatonix.

Their music is defined by their own arrangement style, an unexpected stylistic range that effortlessly moves from electronica, to reggae, to dubstep and more, tight vocal harmonies, deep and steady vocal basslines, and a diverse range of vocal percussion and beatboxing.

All seven Pentatonix releases have peaked within the Top 5 on Billboard’s Digital Albums Chart with six of those releases reaching the Top 10 or higher on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart.

Most recently, the group received gold certifications for their ‘Daft Punk’ medley and cover of Imagine Dragons’ Radioactive (ft. Lindsey Stirling), while That’s Christmas To Me was the fourth bestselling album of 2014 in America with 2x platinum certification.

In 2015, Pentatonix delivered their fourth self-titled studio album (out now via Sony Music Australia), a US certified gold release of all-original material that topped the Billboard 200 chart and debuted in the top 5 of the ARIA Album Chart. The most recent single from the album If I Ever Fall In Love (ft. Jason Derulo) has already picked up 4.5 million video views in the short time since its premiere.

With a penchant for selling out shows in record time, fans best act quick to secure their tickets to a show that is sure to have audiences every bit as vocal as the performers, cheering wildly at every song.
