Shapeshifter Announce Album Launch Event and Release New Track

07 October 2016 - 0 Comments

Shapeshifter are excited to announce that they have teamed up with Spark and Spotify to put on a special showcase for their new album Stars, taking place at Auckland Museum as part of the Volume: Making Music in Aotearoa exhibition on November 4th. Fans will be treated to an exclusive experience unlike anything that this seminal band has done before, showcasing songs from the new album on the day of its anticipated release.

If you are a Spark customer, you could win tickets HERE.

It is a week of announcements for Shapeshifter as they release their new singleHer today, in conjunction with the pre-order for the album going live. Hertouches on themes of love, loss and a celebration of spirit, combining summertime soundscapes with electric touches.

The new single follows hotly on the heels of Shapeshifter’s first single Stars, which has fans hyped for the release of their new album.

The beginning of the recording process for Stars took place between Shapeshifter’s studios in New Brighton and Auckland, before finishing up at Neil Finn’s Roundhead Studios.

“We had a group of about 100 song ideas,” reveals Shapeshifter’s Nick Robinson. “We spent six months solely focused on writing tunes and ideas. Stars was one of the 11 tracks that made it through to the end – and we’re ecstatic with the result.”

Shapeshifter’s new studio album is the follow-up to their acclaimed LP Delta. Released in 2013, the album reached platinum status, spawning the platinum single In Colour and earning the band the accolade of Best Group and Best Electronica Album at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.

Shapeshifter are proud to celebrate their album launch in conjunction with Volume: Making Music in Aotearoa, the first major exhibition on New Zealand music ever staged, spanning over seven decades of music made on our shores. The exhibition will be open afterhours for guests of the Stars launch event.
