On the back of Australia’s Byron Bay Bluesfest, TEG Live is pleased to announce that Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will be joining one of the most successful and best-selling artists of his generation, Lenny Kravitz, for his first ever New Zealand show at Auckland’s Spark Arena on March 31.Tickets are now on sale from Ticketmaster.

Trombone Shorty aka Troy Andrews is a musician, producer and actor who first performed with Kravitz as part of the horn section on his 2005 tour. Troy Andrews is the bandleader and frontman of Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, a nine-piece hard-edged funk band that employs brass-band beats, rock dynamics and improvisation in a jazz tradition.

Andrews has gone on to work with some of the biggest names in rock, pop, jazz, funk and hip hop including, Prince, U2, Green Day, Charles Neville (Neville Brothers), Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, Mark Ronson, Zhu, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Rebirth Brass Band, Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker,and has shared the stage with Hall & Oates, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Steven Tyler, LeAnn Rimes, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Madonna, and the Foo Fighters.

Andrews has performed at the White House five times between 2008-2016, a highlight being in 2012 as part of Black History Month, alongside B.B. King, Jeff Beck, Keb' Mo', Mick Jagger, Michelle Obama and twice again in 2015 (for President Obama) with Usher, Queen Latifah, Crosby, Stills and Nash and Aloe Blacc.

Best known as a trombone, trumpet player and singer, Andrews also plays drums, organ, and tuba and is the younger brother of trumpeter and bandleader James Andrews and the grandson of singer and songwriter Jessie Hill. The late Travis "Trumpet Black’ Hill is another musical family member.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue promises a unique musical union of rock n roll, funk, blues and soul with New Orleans jazz and hip hop which will get the audience ready for Lenny Kravitz, who will bring the house down with his high energy show featuring this classic hits and new music from Rise Vibration album
