Girls Rock! Poneke are excited to present their first ever online festival! Homemade Jams will take place this Friday 17th April, 2pm – 6.45pm, and is going live in cyberspace from the Girls Rock! Aotearoa Facebook page.

Viewers AKA those in the digital mosh-pit are encouraged to donate to the Girls Rock! Poneke Give-a-Little Fundraiser. The fundraiser will help cover the costs of their 2020 programme which provides work for local musicians, and opportunities for aspiring young musicians.

The line-up includes sets from New Zealand rock icon Julia Deans, experimental ambient artist Motte, Auckland’s Louisa Nicklin, Wellington’s Sports Dreams and more.

About Girls Rock! Poneke

Girls Rock! Poneke is the Wellington branch of an organisation that aims to disrupt the current gender imbalance in our music industry through a series of school holiday programmes for young women, trans, non-binary and gender-non-conforming youth.

The rock and roll holiday programme runs over a week, and provides young people with a chance to learn an instrument, join a band, and attend workshops run by a team of highly-regarded local musicians. This year due to Covid-19, alternative plans are in place for an equally awesome and interactive online programme, in case the ‘in-person’ camp at the Massey University campus is unable to go ahead.
