Review:

San Francisco Bathhouse, Tour of Dirty - made me happy and the night was gone within a matter of moments. Concord Dawn, PNC, P-Money, State of Mind and Scribe, all MCed by chameleon genreist Tiki Tane.

This sort of variety leads to mixed atmospheres and so many people I talked to were quite pleasant, the others can be expected anywhere, so it isn't worth a worry. I'm a friendly guy, and when I'm out at these sorts of events I like talking to random people - it's fun and I feel friendly. Anyway, this particular guy didn't like the way I commented on his glasses, and being a spectacle wearer myself, I pursued the conversation. The resulting situation was one of awkwardness on his part, as I had no embarrassment at all.

Any who, Concord Dawn were off the chain. They always deliver heavy drum and bass when it is evident the people dancing half a metre apart really want it. Arms fling when these dudes play. I feel State of Mind is really good. They combine the drum and bass everyone wants with some technically advanced rapping which goes down pretty well.

P-Money, although he needs no introduction, and any words would either go in one ear and out the other, or add to his boasting inventory, he does deliver the beats when it matters most- in this case, 4 in the morning when everyone else (PNC) is too wasted to play. Newfound respect for that guy.

This night was the second best time I've had all year, second only to another night Concord was playing. I wouldn't hesitate to see any of these artists again, except maybe Scribe - I'm glad they put him on nice and early while everybody still occupied the balcony and I had my talking groove on.

I hope the guy I gave my beer to enjoyed it. It seemed like he did.

The only thing that could've made this night better was if they had put some music on after everyone had finished playing. All this DnB and then it just stops, leaving everyone hyped up and having to resort to the night clubs at the top end of town to fill their dancing fix for the morning hours. It was probably my own fault.

Anyway, Tour of Dirty - sweet - I hope they travel again soon. Together.
