Adi Dick is a singer/songwriter/beatmaker/producer from Wellington.
For the last 6 years Adi has been the guitarists/singer in the roots/rock band SEVEN SUNS (Formerly STYLUS77) but now as the band calls it a day he on a musical quest of his own.
Adi released his first solo offering in late 2005. The EP "Noise in Your Stereo" is somewhat a mission statement to show the musical direction in which he is about to further explore. The EP was released independently on Adi's own label "First Take Records". With a love for soul music with Hip Hop production sensibilities alongside his passion for blues, funk and jazz Adi is busy recording and producing his first full-length album.
Adi is a member of Fly My Pretties with two of his songs, "Foresight" and "Get Out" featuring on 2005's "Return of Fly My Pretties" album. Fly My Pretties will be appearing again live in 2006 starting with a nationwide tour of Dunedin, Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington in late July.
Adi also founded the SONS OF PUHA in late 2005. Featuring himself on MPC duties, guitar and vocals, Doughboy Johnson on bass and Lisa Preston on vocals the SONS OF PUHA are a funky collective of soul music lovers. Ultimately S.O.P. are a band who bring a mixture of jam-style improvisation and studio-like hip hop/future soul production to their live performances. Sons of Puha can be seen performing their musical boil-up in Wellington on a regular basis.
Adi's other projects include:
- Playing the blues alongside Jeremy Toy (Open Souls) in Ota's band "Blues Clues" which pays tribute to the funky side of the blues of the 50's, 60's and 70's.
- Writing and producing songs for [b]The Ace[/b,] his collaborative project with Anya Stewart from France.
- Playing guitar and singing in The 6 Pack Project alongside Matiu Sadd from The WBC.
- Playing guitar in Modules live band from time to time.
