Glen Child is a full time drummer who has been recording, teaching and playing the drums professionally for well over ten years. He studied at London's Drumtech under Paul Elliot, Brian Greene, Pete Cater and Laurie Jenkins. Glen then went on to gain an honours degree in popular music performance at the London College Of Music.
Glen is experienced in rock, pop, funk, jazz, big band, latin, breakbeat, hip-hop, drum'n'bass, shows and Nu-metal. As well as regularly gigging with big bands, function bands, jazz/Latin bands and original bands He has also toured with the worlds only Limp Bizkit tribute band 'Limpish Bizkit'.
Recently he has recorded a Live album with Rock Chick Natalie Long, been gigging with Singer Song writer Denny Lloyd, as well as numerous gigs with Function Band Metropolis and the cover band The Kickback.
In 2005 Glen was appointed the Continued Professional Development co-ordinator for Uk based company, Gigajam Interactive Music School, which involved training other tutors in teaching, business and marketing.
In July 2006 he emigrated to NZ where he now teaches at Excel School of Performing arts as well as gigging with Annie Crummer, The Darcy Perry Band and Farmer Pimp.
Glen’s lessons are for all ages and skill levels but he is particularly interested in teaching semi-pro, college level and pro players. He is also keen to continue working with young children and adult beginners as well.
Glen covers topics such as Hand/Foot Technique, Independence, Moeller, Chart & Sight Reading, Time playing, Linear phrasing, Listening skills, Styles & Grooves such as Cuban, Brazilian, Jazz, Funk & Rock.
