Nothing Ever Happens is the upcoming single from Blenheim’s alt-rock munters, Big Scout. It comes on the heels of Flung - which garnered countrywide airplay on student radio and a favourable review from Muzic.net.nz.
Like Flung, Nothing Ever Happens was recorded and
produced by Christchurch hottie, Brian Feary (of Melted Icecream/Dust Up Records
fame).
The song is about failing to notice the everyday miracles which spark up around
us. It’s fraction-too slow tempo was inspired by Flipper, or that song
Columbia by Oasis. For the video we roared out to an empty paddock in
Rarangi, threw a few doughnuts in a 2003 Nissan Primera, rattled the dags on a
few stray ewes, and got each other into headlocks under a gothic willow.
Big Scout has a nationwide tour booked in November with pals and heroes Repairs:
13 November @ Darkroom, Christchurch
14 November @ The Underground, Framingham Winery, Blenheim
26 November @ Whammy Bar, Auckland
27 November @ The Hop House, Tauranga
28 November @ The Stomach, Palmerston North
Nothing Ever Happens will be released on the band's own imprint,
Provincial Yaw Records on 26 August.
