Kiwi hip-hop royalty Kings is back with a bang!
The award-winning rapper and producer has just dropped his new single two.grams, from his upcoming album, which will be revealed over the coming weeks and months.
Listen here.
Kings’ new body of work sees him returning to his roots, with a focus on hip-hop and R&B bangers, and his new single two.grams is no exception. Teaming up with legendary producer LMC (Rich The Kid, Swae Lee, Lil Skies), two.grams blends Kings’ signature sound of catchy and melodic hooks, with LMC’s trappy R&B vibe.
The song is accompanied by a slick video, shot in Auckland’s central CBD as the city was on the brink of heading into Lockdown Level 3. Watch it here.
The one-take-esque video is inspired by Drake’s Toosie Slide.
“The underlying idea is that the women in the film aren't depicted as ‘sluts’ but powerful women. The song speaks of a woman who can ‘do it all by herself’,” says Kings.
two.grams makes way for Kings’ new record, which is his fourth official full-length album.
It follows a full-on few years, in which the Auckland-based artist has topped the charts; taken over radio; won countless awards and accolades including a triple platinums; toured the country and played on main stages at New Zealand’s biggest festivals.
A proudly independent artist, and a prolific creator, Kings has made many of his own music videos and has turned his attention to film and podcasting.
Stay tuned for more exciting news and releases in the coming weeks.
