Wellington Music Week

08 November 2006 - 0 Comments

The fourth Wellington Music Week kicks off on 20 November to celebrate the quality and success of music in the Creative Capital.

Music plays an enormous part in Wellington’s thriving and diverse urban culture and Wellington Music Week is an opportunity to recognise this valuable contribution to Wellington life. With numerous performances across the city in theatres, schools, cafes, bars, clubs, churches, radio and television covering all styles and genres there is something for everyone.

Wellington Music Week is an industry-led and inspired event which began as an event to promote investment, employment, and business opportunities within the local music industry with a focus on long-term development.

A major feature of Wellington Music Week is the free Music Seminar Series which is open to the public and especially relevant to people looking to make an income from music. The week long series aims to build knowledge within the local music industry to increase opportunities for local success. Details of the Music Seminar Series will be announced soon – and will include seminars presented by APRA and the NZ Music Industry Commission with sessions covering songwriting, digital marketing, stage production, video and international touring.

Wellington Music Week will also feature live performances through out the week in Civic Square, Te Papa and the dozens of great bars and venues around Wellington.

Mayor Kerry Prendergast will also be generously hosting a Mayoral Function in the Council Chambers on Monday 27 November to provide a valuable opportunity for members of the local music industry to come together.

Wellington Music Week is made possible with generous support from sponsors, speakers, performers and organisers. Particular thanks to: Wellington City Council, Bodega, APRA, The package, Phantom, Wotzon, Radio Active, Alistair’s Music, Mojo Sound, Observatory Crest and FletcherLegal.
