The Tuning Fork presents:
GROUNDED SOUNDS
in support of MusicHelps
@ The Tuning Fork, Auckland
Friday 18 December 2020
Grounded Sounds has been produced with local acts in mind, allowing home grown talent to shine. We have created an event that celebrates established acts as well as showcasing up and coming younger talent. Even better, Grounded Sounds is supporting New Zealand musicians and the industry with proceeds going to the charity MusicHelps.
Grounded Sounds features Daffodils (acoustic), LA Women, Rei, LAIIKA, spaces., Sophie and Sam.
2020 has been a difficult year for many musicians and all those involved in the live events industry. The pandemic has had a devastating impact on those in the music industry and live events with many tours, shows and events cancelled.
MusicHelps is a unique charity set up in 2012 with the purpose of using the power of music to change the lives of New Zealanders in need. MusicHelps also provides emergency assistance to hundreds of kiwi music people experiencing hardship. With Covid dominating this year, MusicHelps has been the go-to support for musicians and the music scene in New Zealand.
Grounded Sounds is super excited to support this unique charity and know that funds raised on the night will go towards supporting Kiwi musicians and music workers in crisis.
Peter Dickens, General Manager of MusicHelps said “This year has been unlike any we have ever experienced. The shadow of the shutdown of local live music in Aotearoa still hangs over the industry and the continued absence of international tours, which many kiwi music workers rely on to make a living, has shattered livelihoods and families. The emergency financial support and professional counselling that MusicHelps provides to kiwi music people would not be possible without the amazing efforts of fundraising shows like Grounded Sounds. We’re very grateful to The Tuning Fork, Live Nation, the artists, crew and Kiera for their generous support and we’re looking forward to an awesome night on the 18th of December!”
Grounded Sounds is an all ages show. As a teenager, the brainwave of Grounded Sounds, Kiera Sumner, knows all too well that there is a huge market for live shows that also accommodate teenage fans. It’s been a challenging year for students in their last year at school, with many school events and experiences unable to happen. So, it is with great pleasure to welcome all to Grounded Sounds, with a range of acts that span genres, there will be something to cater to everyone.
“I’d like to thank all those who have donated their time and have helped and supported us to make this event happen with massive recognition to all the acts performing on the night and to the fantastic venue The Tuning Fork, Auckland. As well I’d like to acknowledge the time Finn McLennan-Elliott, Ellie Smith and Mark Kneebone have put into Grounded Sounds to make it possible.”
Doors open at 7pm, GA entry, licenced bar and food can be purchased on the night. Tickets start at just $10 for a limited early bird run, before general sales are $15.
