Music News - Sycophant ready to rock in the New Year with their latest single 'Mercenary'

Alternative rock trio Sycophant are back and ready to rock your socks off with their latest single Mercenary.
The song is off the Pop Frog EP follows in the footsteps of their last single It’s Not OK which attracted radio play in NZ, Australia and South Africa and notched up more than 65,000 plays on YouTube.
In his review of the Pop Frog EP, muzic.net.nz reviewer Carl Hayman labelled Mercenary "Cool, very cool" and he’s right! The song delivers hard-hitting home-truths that keep rolling with the punches over the explosive sound of guitars, drums and bass.
Mercenary is the third and final single off the Pop Frog EP which was released under trying times during New Zealand’s covid-19 lockdown while singer guitarist Connor Hardy was stuck in Melbourne. However, on his final day in NZ the band managed to shoot a video in popular Wellington venue Valhalla.
The Mercenary video is now available on YouTube and adds to the growing number of covid-19 videos with the band rocking out in the empty venue to a crowd of none.
