Christchurch sonic noise rock collective No Broadcast are back. Recorded with meticulous detail over the past two years, Lie in Orbit is due for release later this year. This album was a DIY recording project taken on by Josh Braden, Kieran Colina, and Thom O’Connor. This self-recorded album is being released independently. This album evolved during the recording process as the band extended and experimented with different recording techniques.
In the lead up to the album release, they are releasing a number of singles in conjunction with Chirny’s Coffee. Chirny’s Coffee is dedicated to promoting local art and music, and innovating how artists can distribute their work, blending digital and real mediums of creative experience. The first single to be released is Crushed to Fit alongside Chirny’s Special Roast in March. This single is the first in a number to be released leading up to the Lie in Orbit release. Each single has been paired with a particular blend of coffee to match the vibe of the song. Only fifty copies of each singles will be released with Chirny’s Coffee.
Crushed to Fit will also be released on Bandcamp, for those unlucky enough to miss out on the caffeinated versions. Prior to working with Chirny’s Coffee, No Broadcast worked with Fiasco Brewing, releasing their previous album ‘The Blueprint’ on a specialised beer. Creating a tangible object that can enjoyed alongside the music is part of the attraction of these collaborations. The band strives to create a duel experience and echo back to the days when a new album only came on CD and one would pour over the CD insert whilst listening. With most music released online, they are looking for innovative releases to reach new audiences.
