Alae releases new single + video for 'Said Too Much'

Kiwi pop act Alae has today released the first single for 2021 - the super-catchy confessional tune, Said Too Much.

Produced by Will Henderson, Said Too Much is ultra smooth with a funky vibe that has become synonymous with Alae.

“The collaboration was energising. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't - and there's no feeling like when it does work,” says Henderson about working with Alae’s frontman, Alex Farrell-Davey.

“At the end of the day we knew we had a fun song, which is all we could ask for. We loved it and we were proud, hopefully someone else will love it too.”

Said Too Much is about pent-up thoughts finding their way out of you in a way that can be damaging to relationships.

“Quite often when I approach sensitive topics with friends, I paraphrase my thoughts in a way that’s a little too honest. Watching people internalise those comments can be hard because I don’t want to upset them. That’s what this song is about,” says Farrell-Davey.

“Learning how to talk openly with the people we care about is a journey. Taking an empathetic approach while looking out for number one, is a process that only gets easier with practice. Sometimes we say too much, sometimes we don’t say enough. Either way, it’s complicated.”

Alae has also released a trippy visual aid to go alongside the song. Watch the video here

The stand-alone single follows on from the recently-released radio favourite, Frozen in LA. Alae has well and truly made the way into the ears of pop fans with more than 6.5 million streams on Spotify and a million streams for the 2020 EP Lucy's Mixtape. The act has also received radio love with plays on ZM, George FM, The Hits, More FM and The Edge.

COVID has not stopped Alae from consistently releasing quality music over the last year including the single Summer Thing which hit the #1 spot on the Most Added Radioscope charts, Top 5 NZ Radio Airplay chart, debuted at #2 On the NZ Hot 40 singles chart and has been added to 1100+ playlists across Spotify and Apple Music alone.
