The ‘Yallah’ remix competition was a friendly gathering of electronic musicians across New Zealand.
Despite unsettling times for many of the artists, they all pushed through with over 10 entries, covering a few vocal covers and a stack of producer remixes.
The top 5 tracks are:
- [DNB] Innusta - Tama Hemara (Dargaville) [Night Owl Collective]
- [HYBRID-TRAP] ASHEZ - Max Ashworth (AKL) [Boy Records]
- [HYBRID-TRAP] Dijy - James Kane (Napier) [IWI Collective]
- [HYBRID-TRAP] M43 - Chris Orme (Palmerston North) [Beatdown Bass]
- [HYBRID-TRAP] Marina Katerina - Mary Katherine Ayers (AKL/LA) [The Kat Club]
The top 5 tracks from the Yallah Remix Competition have made it to radio & distribution. Everyone who submitted a remix or cover will be enjoying a free year of subscription to the Beat Whanau Patreon, as well as regular radio play on 'The Daytime Disco' and special mention on the Decktrik social pages.
"I wanted to host the remix competition to help include everyone on the testimony of 'Yallah' and it's unique flavour. Most of the remixers mentioned how fun it was working with the stems since they got to see how all these parts came together and complemented each other. Overall a really great response, and since there were many who expressed interest in the competition but never got around to sending in time, the stems will be open for others who wish to try flipping it later on" says Decktrik.
A tantalizing track and video, and vibrant remixes ‘Yallah’ means ‘Let’s Go’… and that is how it will make you feel.
The creator of 'Beat Whanau' Podcasts, Decktrik works with other beatmakers and musicians to get through blockages both mentally and socially, which has, in turn, sparked the beginning of a continual podcast with huge people in NZ music sharing their journeys, their testimony, and sharing positive encouragement and advice to upcoming and established artists alike, with the focus of strengthening NZ’s music presence in the global market.
