The Julie Lamb Outfit are taking their full eight-piece, kick-arse funky pop sound on the road.
They’re doing it to show off their 2020 album How Humans Think which debuted at 10 on the official NZ Album Charts, and received 5 stars... They are also celebrating the landmark of 5 studio albums and 50 original songs.
To appear more sensible, they are promoting this as a pyjama tour. The wearing of said pyjamas may or may not happen.
The eight date tour hits Wellington, Paekakariki, Masterton, Hastings, Auckland, Raglan, Whanganui, and Oakura. Several of these places are a first for the band, and “that’s exciting. Fresh starts, new friends, new venues. All the better to surprise you all, my dears!” said Julie.
Existing friends say lovely things like this:
"Anyone who has seen the Wellington-based Julie Lamb Outfit live, knows they are as tightly woven as that machine knitted jumper your mum made for you in the 70's - and keep you feeling just as warm." - Claire Symonds, Freelance Journalist
“It’s great to hear some funky pop-rock with good old fashioned backing vocals and horn parts too. A class act made all the better by the joi-de-vivre it encapsulates and projects." - Bing Turkby, NZ Musician
To make sure the Algorithm Gods are satisfied, there are several new singles and videos being released over the next 2 months.
The first of these, a lo-fi video from the latest album, is the fantastic Born with the Blues - a song penned by Shan Jordan (keyboards and vocals) and it is the true basis of the pyjama theme. It has garnered excellent critical review, caused a few snorty chuckles and you can watch it here.
The second offering is a slap bass funky number Working on the Line – all about I’m just walking/working here!” The release date of 17th March is because, undoubtedly St Patrick had the same issues. The woowoo link to that offering is here.
Tickets, information and tour details are available at Under the Radar, while all the goodies about the The Julie Lamb Outfit are encapsulated on their lovely website.
