Dianne Swann has released the video for latest single Losing The War On Peace Of Mind. Premiered on RNZ, the video features characters depicted on the album cover drawn by Stephen McCarthy infiltrating otherwise
‘normal’ or tranquil scenes.
Of the video McCarthy says: “Dianne sent me a great pic of her on the beach a while back and it just looked so sparse, empty and peaceful - but I’ve always had this habit of wondering what's going on beneath the
surface of seemingly innocent pictures and start drawing other worlds, filling up with little creatures and stuff. I’ve been drawing new scenes on classic album covers for a while over at @the_doodle_verse but when I heard the song it seemed like
the perfect fit as an idea for the constant war on peace of mind - trying to find solitude but there's always stuff going on. A football game, a streaker, a sad tombstone, a karaoke bar, a birthday party for Dianne's dog - Breeze all then brought
to life by animator Jared Kahi and his team.”
Losing The War On Peace Of Mind is the almost title track from Swann’s forthcoming debut solo album The War On Peace Of Mind out next Friday. An album which offers an examination of the intricacies of the human mind and our internal battles that we are confronted with. It courses across stark realities of today, love, loss, and change. Innovative and varied there are guitars, at times heavy, at times refrained, it’s alt-folk, it’s rock, there are pop sensibilities but above all, it’s Swann at her very best. Wings spread and soaring.
